Lorenz Schweitzer has received numerous certifications in over ten years as a health professional. Most notable are his certifications as Rolfer, personal trainer, Pilates Instructor, and yoga teacher. Lorenz has been based in the Bay Area since 1994 and has worked with many local health clubs and chiropractors.
In 1998 he opened his first studio to meet the demand for a setting which focused both on improving physical abilities as well as enhancing human potential. In 2002 he created a partnership and a larger studio, in an attempt to create a progressive model of movement and manual therapies with other seasoned professionals. In the fall of 2005, Lorenz withdrew from his business adventures and returned to a private practice as a means to study the questions and issues that arose during his first ten years as a professional.
Today, his work is largely focused on Rolfing and movement integration via integral yoga. Lorenz supports his work with his own personal growth, involving himself in many therapies, spiritual practices and movement & yogic studies. He is a resource for support and direction to a variety of healing processes. Lorenz offers workshops to deepen personal growth and develop skills to assist others in their healing process. |

What is your work all about? |
||
My educational background is in psychology, many movement and manual therapy disciplines; Rolfing, Yoga, and Pilates to name just a few. I use all my education in every session, since there are different needs for each client. In order to continually grow in my work and to better help my clients, I have created links between various approaches and ways of thinking. I work with you as you are that day; watch your body, listen to your words, and feel your energy in order to create the appropriate goals for the session and to create a very positive outcome for each session.
My type of work is known as “Structural Integration” (SI), which is one branch within the field of Somatic Therapy. SI uses both bodywork (manual therapies), and movement education (movement therapies / movement integration) to address the alignment and functions of the body and the body's systems. The goals and result of S.I. vary – from fitness to esthetics, to the elimination of pain and dysfunction while re-educating the body.
My approach to S.I. also focuses on personal development (a common theme in Somatic Therapies). I believe that an individual's relationship with his or her body – his or her alignment, the way one moves through space, what functions and what doesn't is strongly related to an individual's psychological and interpersonal experience and health. The goal of my work with each person is to help them reach a space where they can accept and utilize the work of Structural Integration to support their life activities. With personal development as the focus it is possible to move beyond what either I or the individual ever imagined possible. |
